Don't Pour Fat, Oils or Grease Down the Drain

Did you know that fats, oils and grease can clog up sewer pipes? They stick to the inside of pipes and can cause sewer back-ups for you and your neighbors. This holiday season, be sure to dispose of fat, oils and greases in in the trash can. Here are three tips to keep everyone's sewer flowing smoothly:

1. Pour used cooking oil into a non-recyclable container, and throw it in the garbage.

2. Before you wash greasy pots and pans or put them in the dishwasher, wipe out grease with a paper towel and dispose in the trash.

3. Throw meat scraps, fat and skin in the garbage instead of in the garbage disposal.
