Padre Dam’s Water Quality
In light of concerns surrounding COVID-19 (the coronavirus), Padre Dam wants to reassure customers that this virus has no impact on the District’s drinking water supply. Padre Dam is committed to providing its customers with safe and reliable water that is both available and plentiful.
Padre Dam receives 100 percent of our drinking water supply from the San Diego County Water Authority water treatment plants. The final process of water treatment includes disinfection, which inactivates viruses, including the coronavirus. Water is tested throughout Padre Dam’s system on a daily basis to ensure it maintains a consistent disinfectant residual level. (chlorine). Our water meets all stringent state and federal drinking water requirements. Prevention Steps
Padre Dam is taking steps to decrease risk to customers and staff. We have made the difficult decision to cancel all tours at District facilities and any large gathering of people until further notice. In order to protect customers who visit our Customer Service Center, hand-sanitizing stations will be added to the lobby. Customers experiencing a fever, cough or any other illness are asked to please refrain from visiting the Customer Service Center.
Padre Dam continues to monitor and follow local, state and federal advisories. We care deeply about the health of our customers, and advise you to follow all recommendations from the California Department of Health and the US Center for Disease Control.
