Padre Dam Board Vice President James Peasley Passes Away

August 5, 2022 – Padre Dam Municipal Water District’s longtime Board member and Board Vice President James Peasley passed away on August 2.  Board President Bill Pommering shares, “I have been honored to work with Jim for over a decade. Our community has lost a friend and a champion of serving the water needs of our community. Our prayers are with his wife Linda and his entire family.”

James Peasley served on Padre Dam’s Board of Directors for the last twelve years since 2010. He served as Board President in 2014 & 2019 and Vice President in 2013, 2018 & 2022. Additionally he made significant contributions as a representative on the San Diego Metro Commission/Metro Wastewater Joint Powers Authority, San Diego Area Wastewater Management Committee and the Santee Chamber of Commerce.

“I thoroughly enjoyed working with Jim and respected his professionalism, his knowledge, background and dedication to the District and community. I believe we are a better District because of Director Peasley,” shares Doug Wilson, fellow Padre Dam Board member.  Peasley had close to 40 years of experience in water, recycled water, and wastewater industries as a Registered Professional Civil Engineer. Prior to joining the Padre Dam Board he served the water community as an Engineering Manager at Otay Water District.

“Jim and I have been friends and colleagues for nearly 30 years.  He was a stand up, wonderful man and honorable in every respect.  I will truly miss him on the Board,” commented Augie Caires, fellow Padre Dam Board Member.
During his tenure on the District’s Board, Peasley was a strong advocate for ensuring water reliability while working to keep costs down. He supported the District’s efforts to bring a local water supply to East County through the East County Advanced Water Purification Program and was excited to see that project more into the construction phase and become a reality.

“Director Peasley’s passing is an immense loss for Padre Dam and the professional water community. I was impressed by the wealth of knowledge and professionalism he brought especially when working on key wastewater issues for the District and his desire to see the success of the East County AWP Program,” Suzanne Till, fellow Padre Dam Board member.
President Pommering states, “He will certainly be missed. I believe over the coming weeks, months and years we will realize even more how important the contributions Jim offered the water community were and I am grateful for everything he did in service to this Board, the District and the community.”
